apostrophe and quotes fixed

June 26th, 2008 | Rss Feed

Whew!  All the forms have been tested. Visitors can now type in apostrophes and quotes.  We did not have the problem before the server transfer, just since.  We had several emails telling us of the issue and we appreciate anyone who takes the time to send us an email of problems.  We actually respond and consider all comments or suggestions.  Thanks to the 1% for letting us know.

The good news is that the forms are much better at validating what’s being submitted and offering suggestions if something is incorrect.

We have a couple minor projects we’re working on.  Then, look out for some big upgrades!

Happy wedding season!  It’s 103+ today in Vegas!

online bridal registries

June 16th, 2008 | Rss Feed

There are many upgrades and updates in the process.  One we really had to tell you about was that our online bridal registries were updated.  It just amazed me how 3 on the list in the past no longer offer bridal registries.  Robinson-May is now under Macy’s.  Pier1 no longer offers a bridal registry as they set themselves as having the latest fashions so they couldn’t guarantee stock over long periods of time.  In addition, Charitygift is no longer offering a bridal registry.

We also added the bookmark widget to bookmark any web page to your facebook, myspace, favorites, etc. to all web pages.

We updated our featured wedding website on our home page and also the featured wedding websites in the wedding museum.  In addition, we updated the sponsored link on all the wedding websites.

We are now advertising in the local Vegas market….be sure to look out for us!

Finally, our current focus is revamping the free wedding websites.  More info to come!

bridal links updated

June 8th, 2008 | Rss Feed

We have not posted in a while because we took on the daunting task of verifying business listings.  As we state on all web pages that have vendor listings on them (ie. DJs, photographers, videographers, etc) all links are verified and weddings are noted somewhere on their site.  However, what happens is businesses go out-of-business, domain names change, businesses change the services they offer and so on.

WeddingMuseum.com offers free wedding listings to all businesses related to the wedding day.  We are a human edited directory of wedding businesses and unfortunately all links must be verified continuously.

It all brings me to the point of our business strategy.  Most sites you have to pay to be on.  The good thing is is that all links usually are valid as a business must pay for a listing.  If the business stops paying, the link is removed.  That simple.  Some sites put listings on their site based upon the yellow pages.  However, many of these listing are also outdated and don’t list websites.  We offer paid listings (to be at the top of the page with a description) and free listings (basic contact information with website link) to all wedding day businesses.

If you have any comments or suggestions, please let us know.  Keep in mind that verifying websites is an ongoing project.  We still need to check a handful of sites as the sites were inaccessible.  However, we want to give them the benefit of the doubt that their host/server may be down.  However, if the site is not viewable in a week, we will also remove those listings.
